Frog jumping
Frog jumping is a unique and legendary American competition inspired by Mark Twain’s story “The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County.” This event, which has been held since 1928, showcases frogs’ incredible jumping abilities rather than their running skills. It annually attracts up to 35,000 spectators. What began as simple amateur contests has grown into the establishment of Frogville, where frog fairs, Mark Twain readings, and various other festivities are celebrated.
